NEW YORK, N.Y.—York College goalkeeper
Erik Bailon made 13 saves to help the Cardinals men's soccer team earn a 0-0 draw versus conference-rival Medgar Evers College on Saturday afternoon.
The Cougars put pressure on York all afternoon, firing off a total of 30 shots, but could never break through. Bailon made several difficult stops, including a full extension diving stop in the second half of action.
The best chance for Medgar Evers came early in the first overtime period, when the Cougars were awarded a penalty kick after a York foul in the goalie box. However, the Cardinals were a bit fortunate, as Patrick Gentiles shot was well off the mark.
York didn't have many scoring opportunities, as Medgar controlled the time of possession, but they did get off seven shots, two of which were on net. They had a couple decent scoring opportunities but could not convert.
York is now 0-13-2, 0-5-2 CUNYAC, while Medgar Evers is 3-11, 0-3-1 CUNYAC.
The Cardinals will play their penultimate game of the season on October 19, when they visit Baruch College at Randall's Island at 5 p.m.
