Wills Ties School Record for Goals in a Game in Rout of Medgar Evers

BROOKLYN, N.Y. – York College sophomore Kennisha Wills tied a school record that was set less than two weeks prior, scoring five goals to lead the Cardinals to a 9-0 victory over Medgar Evers College on Saturday.

Back on September 8, the Cardinals played Medgar Evers in a non-conference contest, scoing 12 goals, with Estefany Delgado scoring five, setting a new school record.  Wills scored four times in the original contest and tacked on five more in this one to tie the record.

Freshman Jeniffer Durazno scored two goals in this one, while junior Verenice Gomez and freshman Antonella Camps each added a goal and an assist in the Cardinals conference opener.

The match was scoreless for nearly the first 15 minutes until the Cardinals opened the floodgates, scoring four times over the next 19 minutes.  Wills opened the scoring in the 15th minute, followed by a pair of goals from Durazno in the 22nd and 26th minute.  Campos and Wills then closed out the scoring in the first half with goals in the 34th and 43rd minutes respectively.

Wills then came out of the second half with a pair of goals in succession.  First she scored off an assist from Miriam Beltran at 61:33 and then scored again, unassisted, just over a minute later.  Verenice Gomez got her tally in the 71st minute and then Wills tied the record in the 78th minute.

York is now 2-3 overall and 1-1 in the CUNYAC. They return to action on Monday at 4 p.m. when they visit New Jersey City University.
