NEW YORK, N.Y— The York College women's volleyball team saw its 2015 season come to an end at the hands of Hunter College in the quarterfinals of the CUNYAC Championship Tuesday night, with the Hawks defeating York, 3-0 (25-8, 25-6, 25-12).
The Cardinals' hopes of an upset were dashed quickly, as the Hawks jumped out to early leads in every set and never let up. Hunter hit an impressive .390 as a team and held York to just seven kills on the evening.
Julia Connolly had seven kills and Angelica Aquino Mae added six to lead the Hawks.
Shauncia McClendon finished with five of York's seven kills to lead the Cardinals.
Hunter now moves on to the semifinals on Friday where they will take on Lehman College. York finishes the 2015 season with a record of 6-20. With head coach
Renee Thompson entering her first full year of recruiting, the Cardinals are hopeful there will be better days in 2016.
