Cardinals Can’t Overcome Slow Start in Loss To Ramapo

MAHWAH, N.J.— The York College men's basketball team got off to a slow start on the road Monday night against Ramapo College and could never recover, losing by a score of 99-81.

A 13-0 run midway through the first half gave Ramapo a 24-7 lead and they were never threatened from there.  York outscored the Roadrunners in the second half, but the early deficit was too much to overcome.

Ramapo was lights out from the field, shooting 51.5 percent on the evening and nearly 60 percent in the first half.  Their dominance down low was a big reason for their efficient play, as they scored 44 points in the paint. Meanwhile, York struggled from the field, shooting just 36.6 percent.

Taron Pascal led York in a losing effort, scoring a team-high 19 points with four blocks and two steals.  Ryan St. John was one of the few York players who shot well, draining three shots from beyond the arc for 11 points. Jean Joseph netted 12 points off the bench.

Ramapo had a balanced attack with five of its players reaching double digits. Christopher Moseley led all players with 21 points, while making 8-of-11 from the field.
