Men’s Volleyball Comes up Short vs. Lancaster Bible

LANGHORNE, P.A.— The York College men's volleyball team came out on the losing end of three hard-fought sets to Lancaster Bible College, falling by a score of 3-0 (25-18, 29-27, 26-24) on the first day of the Cairn University Classic Friday afternoon.

The 3-0 score is a bit deceiving, as the Cardinals had set points in both the second and third sets but could not close either set out.  After a first set that saw Lancaster Bible pull away late, the Cardinals looked poised to take the second set.  A Sebastien Francois kill put York up 25-24.  But a York service error followed, tying the score.  The two teams then exchanged points until a Lancaster Bible kill and then a York attack error gave the Chargers a 2-0, set advantage.

In the third set, the two teams went back and forth and neither team led by more than three points at any time.  Late in the set, a pair of Lancaster attack errors gave the Cardinals two set points.  But a York attack error, then a Lancaster Bible kill tied up the score.  Two more straight points gave the Chargers the match.

For York, Francois led York with eight kills and ten digs. Edner Geffrard added eight kills and 13 digs.  Frederis Tapia finished with four block assists.  Lancaster Bible was led by T.J. Forsythe, who had a match-high 11 kills, while adding 11 digs.

York will be back in action at the Cairn Classic on Saturday to take on Southern Vermont College at 12 p.m. and Cairn at 4 p.m.
