BOX SCORE 2 JAMAICA, N.Y. – Senior
Stayce Kay Muirhead put on a pair of impressive performances but it would not be enough to lift the York College women's volleyball team to a win at a home tri-match on Saturday afternoon. York fell to the College of Mt. St. Vincent, 3-1 (25-17, 25-16, 21-25, 25-16) in the first match, before losing to undefeated William Paterson University, 3-0 (25-12, 25-19, 25-16).
Muirhead recorded 16 kills in the opener against Mt. St. Vincent—one shy of her career high—while also hitting .419 and contributing four blocks. Against William Paterson she added 11 kills and hit .333.
The Cardinals also had a nice effort from
Shauncia McClendon (6 kills vs. MSV, 8 kills, four blocks vs. WPU) and
Renee Daley (six kills vs. WPU). On defense,
Allison Li added a combined 20 digs over the two matches.
With the two losses, York falls to 1-10 on the season. Mt. St. Vincent, who fell to William Paterson in the other match is now 1-8, while William Paterson is still perfect with a record of 11-0 after the two wins.
York will return to action with a home match on Wednesday vs. Maritime College at 8 p.m.
