Men’s Soccer Beats CUNYAC Foe CCNY, Extending Winning Streak to Three

NEW YORK, N.Y. - The York College men's soccer team won its first CUNY Athletic Conference match of the season as they defeated the City College of New York, 1-0, at Randall's Island, on Saturday morning.

The reigning CUNYAC Men's Soccer Player of the Week, Andre Adelson was the one to score the only goal of the match, which came in the 62nd minute.  Adelson had a total of nine shots in the contest and Rachidi Amadou had a total of seven shots, in addition to adding an assist on the lone scoring play of the day.

The Cardinals seemed to be in command the entire match, as they dominated time of possession and outshot CCNY, 34-15. However, York only scored one goal off of Maxwell Berkow, the Beavers' goalkeeper, who recorded a career-high 19 saves. The Cardinals' goalie, Mohamed Elbarbary had a total of four saves in the shutout victory to record his second straight shutout.

With the win, York improves to 3-3 on the season with a 1-0 record in CUNYAC play. The Beavers' record falls to 1-6, 0-1 CUNYAC. The Cardinals will look to extend their winning streak to four as they travel to Farmingdale State College on Monday, September 22nd at 4:00p.m.
