BOX SCORE BROOKLYN, NY— The York College women's volleyball team lost to conference foe, Brooklyn College in the Bulldogs home opener Tuesday night, by a score of 3-0 (25-16, 25-20, 25-14).
The Bulldogs controlled all aspects of play, hitting at a .236 hitting percentage, while holding York to a negative percentage (-.037). They also served up 14 aces to York's 12 and had 37 digs to York's 26.
Brooklyn saw big contributions from a pair of athletes. Francesca LoCascio led all players with 11 kills, while hitting .556 and recording seven digs, and Yelizaveta Malysheva finished with nine kills, five aces and five digs.
The Cardinals were led once again by
Stayce Kay Muirhead and
Shauncia McClendon, who were the only two members of the team to hit for a positive hitting percentage. Muirhead finished the evening with six kills, while McClendon had four kills and two aces. Libero
Allison Li led the Cardinals with four aces.
York is now 1-7 overall and 1-2 in CUNY Athletic Conference play, while Brooklyn improves to 4-7 overall and 3-0 in the CUNYAC. The Cardinals will have another tough test on the road on Thursday, when they visit Baruch College—the defending CUNYAC Champion—at 6 p.m.
