BOX SCORE BROOKLYN, N.Y.- The York College men's soccer team struggled mightily in its 2014 season-opening match vs. Yeshiva University, losing by a score of 4-0 on a hot, Sunday afternoon at the Aviator Sports and Events Center.
The Cardinals played a sloppy match, turning the ball over with regularity and committing 13 fouls on defense. Two of those fouls came in the goalkeeper's box, leading to penalty kicks for Yeshiva's Itamar Ben David. David converted both of those PKs for goals—one in the 12th minute of action and the other in the 55th minute.
Throughout the game, York had some good scoring opportunities but was never able to convert. The Maccabees then put the match away in the 65th minute with a goal from Aldir Alon. Another goal by the David in the waning seconds of the match rounded out the scoring.
With the win, Yeshiva improves to 2-0, while York is 0-1. The Cardinals will host The College of New Jersey on Tuesday at 3 p.m. at Aviator Field.
