JAMAICA, N.Y. – Despite a couple of closely-contested matches, the York College women's tennis was left with nothing to show for its effort, as the Bulldogs of Brooklyn College won by a score of 9-0 on Friday afternoon at the York College Tennis Courts.

The most exciting match of the afternoon came at #3 singles, where York's Sarah Hilaire fell to Lauren Marino, 4-6, 6-4,15-13.  In the third set tie-breaker, Hilaire rattled off eight straight points, but it would not be enough as Marino pulled out the long match with the sun setting on the York College Tennis Courts.
York's Joanne Ly and Victoria Torres also came up a bit short, falling at #2 doubles, 8-5. 

The Bulldogs were led by its top two players, Suraya Maenhout and Yuliia Orkis. Maenhout cruised to a 6-0, 6-1 victory at first singles, while Orkis, the Pre-Season CUNYAC Player of the Year, teamed up with Diana Beshta to win, 8-0, at #1 doubles.

With the loss, York drops to 1-7, 0-5 CUNYAC, while Brooklyn improves to 5-3 overall, 3-2 CUNYAC.  The Cardinals match against Kean University for Saturday has been postponed due to the inclement weather that is expected to hit the area.  York will return to action on Monday with a conference match against Hunter College at 12 p.m. on the York Courts.
