Women’s Volleyball Pulls Out Five-Set Win over St. Elizabeth

MORRISTOWN, N.J.— The York College women's volleyball team earned a much-needed victory on Tuesday night, as they went on the road to defeat the College of Saint Elizabeth in a five-set thriller, by the score of 3-2 (28-26, 16-25, 25-14, 22-25, 15-9).
 
The Cardinals broke a seven-match losing streak with the victory and used their defense to help get the win.  York tallied a season-high 63 digs in the match, led by Allison Li who recorded a career-high 22 digs.  The Cardinals also had six blocks, with NaaDira Patrick responsible for 2 solo blocks and one assisted and Stayce Kay Muirhead adding a solo block and two block assists. 
 
Muirhead was also the big contributor on the offensive side, as she finished with a match-high 15 kills, which was one shy of her season high.  She also hit an impressive .406 on the night, committing just two hitting errors in 32 attempts. 
 
Setter Kiranjeet Kaur added 25 assists, her second-highest total of the season, while also contributing eight digs and two aces.  Renee Daley added four kills and eight digs, while Shauncia McClendon had a solid all-around contest with four kills, four aces and six digs. 
 
York is now 2-13, while St. Elizabeth is 7-11.  The Cardinals will hope to build off the momentum when they host Yeshiva University on Wednesday at 7 p.m.
