New Rochelle Rallies to Top York Women’s Volleyball
BOX SCORE
NEW ROCHELLE, N.Y.— The York College women's volleyball team held late leads in both the first and second sets but saw the College of New Rochelle rally each time before taking the match, 3-0 (25-23, 26-24, 25-14), on Tuesday evening.
York held a 23-21 lead in the opening set, but three straight attack errors and then a set error gave the Blue Angels the set and a 1-0 advantage.
In the second set, York was up 21-19 when two straight
Stayce Kay Muirhead kills and then a CNR attack error gave the Cardinals a 24-19 cushion and five set points. Marisa Armstrong, Kyllie Thesz, and Meghan King were instrumental in the comeback for the Blue Angles, as they each chipped in a pair of kills. Diana Desir then capped the rally with an ace to close out the set.
New Rochelle then took that momentum from the exciting, second-set triumph and cruised in the third set, winning 25-14. The Blue Angels hit .250 in that final set, while holding York to a -.083 hitting percentage.
