Women’s Volleyball Season Ends With CUNYAC Quarterfinal Loss to Lehman

BOX SCORE
JAMAICA, NY— The 2013 York College women's volleyball season came to a close in disappointing fashion on Tuesday night as the Cardinals fell, 3-0 (25-16, 25-11, 25-13) to Lehman College in the quarterfinals of the CUNY Athletic Conference Women's Volleyball Championships.

Lehman was never really threatened in the match, as they jumped out to early leads in each set and never looked back.  Jo-Marie Aquino put together a dominant effort for the Lightning, recording 15 kills with a .538 hitting percentage, while also adding five aces.  Cari English also had a big night, adding seven kills, hitting .417 and serving up five aces.

The Lighting defense was stout as well, holding the Cardinals to a season-low seven kills on the evening. Stayce Kay Muirhead had three kills, to lead York.  Libero Allison Li added seven digs.

Lehman now advances to the semifinals on Friday night at Hunter College.  York finishes the season with a record of 7-22.
