BRONXVILLE, N.Y.— York College junior
Stayce Kay Muirhead recorded 14 kills with a hitting percentage of .521 (14-3-21) to lead the Cardinal's women's volleyball squad to a 3-0 (25-21, 25-23, 25-19) victory over Sarah Lawrence College on Tuesday evening.
Not only did Muirhead record 14 kills, but some of those came at crucial points in the match. In the first set, with York leading 23-21, she registered two straight kills to finish off the set. In the third, her final kill helped set up match point.
York was also solid at the service line, finishing with 11 service aces for the night.
Shauncia McClendon and
Evelyn Florentino led the way with three aces apiece. Florentino also finished with 24 assists, while McClendon added five kills and five digs.
Allison Li led all Cardinals with nine digs and
Yasheka Lewis registered four kills, six digs and two aces.
Sarah Lawrence was led by Kitty O'Sullivan, who finished with a team-high 10 kills and a match-high 12 digs.
York improves to 3-13, while Sarah Lawrence drops to 2-17. The Cardinals will host Farmingdale State College on Thursday at 7:00 p.m.
