BROOKLYN, N.Y.— Junior
Stayce Kay Muirhead recorded her 500th career kill and the York College women's volleyball team defeated Medgar Evers College, 3-1 (25-13, 20-25, 25-18, 25-20) on Thursday evening.
Muirhead had ten kills on the night, to up her three-year total to 501. She becomes the first York player to reach 500 kills since Renee Thompson did it in 2007. Thompson finished her career with 771. Muirhead also hit an impressive .364 on the night and served up two aces.
Also contributing for York in the win was
Yasheka Lewis, who finished with seven kills and a .636 hitting percentage (7-0-11). Libero
Allison Li added 16 digs and
Shauncia McClendon chipped in five kills and three total blocks.
With the win, York is now 6-17, 2-5 CUNYAC. They will visit the United States Merchant Marine Academy this weekend for a tri-match in Kings Point, NY. The Cardinals will take on William Paterson at 2 p.m. and USMMA at 4 p.m.
