BOX SCORE
OLD WESTBURY, N.Y.— York College freshman
Carlean McCrimmon recorded 11 kills, 13 digs and seven total blocks but her effort would be in vain as the Cardinals women's volleyball team dropped a close one to The College at Old Westbury, 3-1 (20-25, 25-16, 25-22, 25-23) on the road Tuesday night.
McCrimmon tied a career-high for digs and set a new career- high for blocks, while hitting .226 on the night. The Cardinals were hoping to give coach
Ashley Greene a win against the team she played for just two years prior, but they came up a bit short.
The Cardinals came out strong, winning the first set thanks to some strong defensive play. York had six blocks in the set and held Old Westbury to a .025 hitting percentage. But the Cardinals struggled in the second, as they committed 11 hitting errors and the Panthers took the set easily.
In the pivotal third set, York fell behind 18-12 but clawed back to within just two points, 22-20. However, three kills in four points by the Panthers gave them a 2-1 advantage.
In the fourth set, Old Westbury once again held the lead throughout but York rallied to make things interesting. Trailing 21-16, the Cardinals rallied to cut the deficit to 22-21. But Old Westbury held off the Cardinals again and took the set, 25-23, to win the match.
