NEW YORK, N.Y.— Hoping to move up the CUNYAC standings, the York College women's volleyball team came up short, losing two key conference contests on Monday morning. York fell to Brooklyn College, 3-1 (25-18, 25-18, 11-25, 25-17) before losing to Lehman, 3-0 (25-12, 25-13, 25-18).
With the two losses, York will have to go on the road during the CUNYAC quarterfinals, as they can finish no better than sixth place.
Leading the way for York in the loss to Brooklyn was
NaaDira Patrick, who had six kills and a .278 hitting percentage to go along with eight digs and three block assists.
Carlean McCrimmon also had six kills, while adding seven digs and five total blocks.
Against Lehman,
Allison Li led the Cardinals with 11 digs and
Evelyn Florentino finished with a team-high four kills.
York (4-16, 1-5 CUNYAC) will return to action on Friday at St. Joseph's College (Brooklyn) at 7:30. York's scheduled home match against USMMA for this Wednesday has been postponed. USMMA is closed because of the federal government shutdown.
