York Women’s Volleyball Wins in Straight Sets Over Pratt Institute

JAMAICA, NY- The York College women's volleyball team won in straight sets in a match against Pratt Institute on Saturday by a score of 3-0 (25-21, 25-14, 25-20).  York's Stayce Kay Muirhead led the team with 12 kills and a hitting percentage of .435.
 
The Cardinals led the entire first set on their way to a 25-21 win. In the second set, Pratt took an early lead, but York rallied for six straights points to take a commanding 14-9 lead. The third set was close, with the score tied at 15-15, but York was able to pull away late and take the match.
 
York's Allison Li had nine digs and two kills. Yasheka Lewis had seven digs and four kills, and Shauncia McClendon registered seven kills and a hitting percentage of .308. Carlean McCrimmon recorded six kills with a hitting percentage of .417.
 
Pratt Institute (6-8) was led by Diana Lezama who had 10 digs and four kills, and Nicole Garcia finished with seven digs and three kills.
 
York (4-14) will take on Brooklyn College and Lehman College in a multi-match on Monday at Hunter College beginning at 8 a.m.
