Staten Island too Much for York in Men’s Soccer

STATEN ISLAND, NY – The York College men's soccer team allowed two first-half goals and were never able to recover the deficit, losing 5-0 to the College of Staten Island Dolphins, Wednesday afternoon.
 
Forward Andre Adelson led York's attack with four shots on goal. Despite the team's 18 shot attempts, they were unable to reach the back of the net. Goalie Leszek Stankiewicz was able to neutralize some of Staten Island's attack, stopping eight shots on goal.
 
Staten Island struck first, 22 minutes into the match, with a chip pass from midfield by Alfonso Castaneda for a quick shot by Nedgy Nazon just passed the goalie.  In the 75th minute, Nazon found the back of the net for a second time giving CSI a comfortable 4-0 lead. Castaneda added an unassisted goal of his own with only minutes remaining to round out the scoring.
 
CSI improves to 5-4, 1-0 in the CUNY Athletic Conference.  York, 0-6-1, 0-1-1 in CUNYAC play, will look to bounce back when they visit Brooklyn College on Saturday at 12:00 p.m.
