Women’s Basketball Falls in Consolation Game to Mount Ida
BOX SCORE
KEENE, N.H.— The York College women's basketball team fell to Mt. Ida College, 63-38, in the consolation game of the Keene State College Tip-off Tournament in New Hampshire Saturday afternoon.
The Cardinals put themselves in an early hole and though they showed improved play in the second half, they could not dig themselves out of a 25-point first-half defect. Mount Ida shot 45 percent from the field in the first half, while holding York to just 16 percent shooting. That would prove to be the difference-maker.
The Cardinals trailed by just four points (12-8) with 11:42 to play in the half but Mt. Ida closed the half on a 25-4 run to put the game well out of reach. The two teams played even in the second half, both scoring 26 points.
Mt. Ida was led by Evenbonee Acosta, who netted a game-high 20 points, while adding ten boards and four steals. Leslie Campbell had 12 points off the bench.
The Cardinals were paced by
Stayce Kay Muirhead who had 13 points and ten boards.
Danielle Dunn netted 14 points and pulled down eight rebounds.
Alicia Lee also grabbed eight boards.
York falls to 0-2, while Mt. Ida improves to 1-1. The Cardinals will visit Gallaudet University on Friday at 2:00 p.m.
