Women’s Volleyball Splits Two at CUNYAC Multi-Match

NEW YORK, NY— The York College women's volleyball team split a pair of matches on Monday afternoon, beating Brooklyn College 3-1 (25-23, 25-22, 23-25, 25-21) and then losing to Lehman College 3-1 (16-25, 25-19, 25-14, 25-16) at Baruch College.
BROOKLYN RECAP
York came out strong, winning the first two sets before Brooklyn won the third set to make it a tight match in the fourth. The Cardinals led the way with 38 kills but were challenged by Brooklyn's 30 total kills. The Bulldogs committed 23 errors and had just one block the entire match.
The Cardinals were led by
Stayce Kay Muirhead with 17 kills and
NaaDira Patrick's who added 12 kills and four aces. Brooklyn (2-12, 2-4 CUNYAC) was led by Jillian Escobar with 12 kills and three aces.
LEHMAN RECAP
After taking the first set, York couldn't find a way to win another and secure a win. Lehman won the next three sets with 26 kills and 18 aces to York's 28 and six. The Cardinals
Sharon Fordyce led the team with 12 kills and a .280 hit percentage.
Pamela Yap chipped in11 digs.
Lehman (10-9, 4-2 CUNYAC) was led by Cari English with 17 kills and two aces. Jo-Marie Aquino contributed with 10 kills and six aces.
York is now 6-20(2-4 CUNYAC) and will return to action on Friday when they head to Patchogue, NY to take on St. Joseph's College at 2:00 pm followed, by Sarah Lawrence at 4:00 pm.
