Men’s Soccer Scores Season-High Five Goals in Win over Medgar Evers
BOX SCORE
BROOKLYN, N.Y.— The York College men's soccer team recorded a season-high five goals and won its third consecutive match as the Cardinals defeated Medgar Evers College, 5-2, on Saturday afternoon at Aviator Field.
York wasted little time getting on the board with
Jordan Chin scoring just under four minutes into the contest. Then in the 17
th minute,
Andre Adelson, who assisted on the first goal, added a goal of his own to make it 2-0.
Peterson Jean assisted on the goal.
But Medgar Evers was able to cut the lead in half after being awarded a penalty kick because of a foul in York's goalie box. Zeakiel Dealey was able to convert the kick in the 25
th minute to make it 2-1.
But that would be as close as the Cougars could get because York added two more goals early in the second half to put the contest out of reach.
Brian Broadbelt scored in the 47
th minute and then Chin added another goal in the 63
rd minute to put York on top 4-1.
Medgar Evers added a late goal to make it 4-2 but York closed out the scoring when
Wangchuk Dorjee took a pass from
Ousmane Toure and scored as time expired to make the final tally, 5-2.
With the win, York improves to 3-10-1, 2-5-1 in the CUNY Athletic Conference, while Medgar Evers drops to 1-11, 0-6 in the CUNYAC. York will have a quick turnaround as it hosts Sarah Lawrence on Sunday at 2:00 p.m. at Aviator Field.
