York Eliminated by Baruch in CUNYAC Quarterfinals

NEW YORK, NY—The 2011 women's volleyball season came to end for York College Tuesday evening, as the Cardinals fell to the Baruch College in the quarterfinals of the CUNY Athletic Conference/ Con Edison Women's Volleyball Championships. York fell to the Bearcats by a score of 3-0 (25-9, 25-6, 25-11).
Baruch (22-10) had little trouble disposing of York as they were never threatened in three sets. The Bearcats hit an impressive .593 on the day, while serving up 19 aces. Baruch, who will now take on Lehman College in the semifinals Thursday, were led by Sara Stephani, who slammed nine kills in just ten attempts. Megan Moody added eight kills (.667), while Melissa Santiago had 33 assists and eight aces on the night.
York got a team-high four kills apiece from
Stayce Kay Muirhead and
Sharon Fordyce. Libero
Laureen Cay Oliver had a team-leading six digs on the night.
The Cardinals finish the 2011 campaign with a record of 4-28.
