Adelson’s Two Goals Lift York over Medgar Evers

BOX SCORE

BROOKLYN, NY—Andre Adelson netted two goals to lift the York College men's soccer team to a 3-1 triumph over Medgar Evers College in the final conference game of the season at Aviator Field in Brooklyn Wednesday evening.

With the win, York (5-11, 5-3 CUNYAC) can finish no lower than third in the CUNY Athletic Conference standings and can finish as high as second.  If Baruch ties or loses to Medgar Evers on Saturday, York will clinch the #2 seed in the upcoming CUNYAC Championships.

York got on the board quickly, as Adelson scored on a breakaway and beat the Cougars goalie to make it 1-0 just 7:40 into the contest.  Shortly after, in the 23rd minute, Oluwafemi Olasokan scored another goal for York to give the Cardinals a 2-0 cushion.

After 55 minutes of scoreless action, Adelson scored his second goal of the night when he lofted a shot over the goalie's head and into the net to put York up by three goals.  Medgar Evers (2-13, 1-4 CUNYAC) got on the board a couple minutes later but could net get any closer.

York will close the regular season out next Wednesday when they host Berkeley College at 4:00 p.m.
