York Falls to Hunter & Brooklyn at Multi-Match

STATEN ISLAND, NY— The York College women's volleyball team came up short in a pair of contests at the CUNY Athletic Conference Multi-Match held at the College of Staten Island Monday afternoon. York fell to Hunter College 3-0 (25-16, 25-9, 25-9) and later was downed by Brooklyn College 3-0 (25-18, 25-17, 25-12).
Hunter (13-6, 7-0 CUNYAC), who is undefeated in CUNYAC play, proved to be too strong for York, allowing just nine points in both the second and third sets. Paulina Jobcyk had a match-high seven kills to lead the Hawks.
Despite the loss, York had a nice game from freshman
Stayce Kay Muirhead, who finished with five kills and a .400 hitting percentage. Sophomore
Pamela Yap added five digs and 11 assists.
York kept it a little closer in the second match against but Brooklyn (10-7, 5-1 CUNYAC) but still came up short. Once again, it was Muirhead who performed well for York, slamming another five kills.
Antenieka Burton added five kills and four blocks, while
Sharon Fordyce added four kills and two blocks.
York will travel to St. Joseph's (Long Island) for a tournament this Friday and Saturday.
