Women’s Tennis Loses Another Heartbreaker; Falls 5-4 to Brooklyn

York Edged by Conference Unbeaten Brooklyn College

BROOKLYN, NY— The York College women's tennis team suffered its second straight heartbreaking defeat, as they fell to Brooklyn College—who are unbeaten in CUNY Athletic Conference play—by a score of 5-4 on Monday afternoon, in what was a completion of suspended game from October 3.

York fell behind 2-1 after doubles play with its lone win once again coming at #3 doubles, where Tenzin Kunchok and Anna Ko were 8-1 winners over BC's Hadiya Cameron and Maria Sanz.  The tandem is now an impressive 4-0 on the season.

Needing to win four-of-six singles matches to take the contest, York came up one match short, splitting singles play.  Nicole Jones won in a third-set tie break over Brooklyn's Liana Rivkin by a score of 6-2, 2-6, 11-9 at second singles.  Ko (7-5, 6-3) and Kunchok (7-6, 6-2) also won their singles matches at #5 and #6 respectively.  The Bulldogs took the other three singles matches in straight sets, however, to clinch the victory.

Brooklyn improves to 9-2, 6-0 in the CUNYAC, while York drops to 7-7, 4-3 in the CUNYAC.  The Cardinals will host John Jay on Wednesday at 3:30 p.m.
