York Loses Two at William Paterson Tri-Match

WAYNE, NJ— The York College women's volleyball team dropped two matches at the William Paterson Tri-Match on Saturday morning. The Cardinals fell to the host school, William Paterson, losing by a score of (25-10, 25-13, 25-10) in the opening contest and then lost in four sets to Old Westbury by a score of 3-1 (25-14, 25-15, 28-30, 25-9).
William Paterson controlled the opening match, hitting .342 (30-5-73). Kim Runge led the Pioneers with 11 kills and seven digs. York was led by
Pamela Yap, who registered a match-high ten digs.
Antenieka Burton picked up six kills and eight digs and
Sharon Fordyce had four kills and two blocks.
Yasheka Lewis also recorded five kills and six digs.
In the second match, York was better defensively as Old Westbury only hit 097 for the match. However, they still managed to come out on top because of their serving game. The Panthers served up 16 aces on the day, compared to just four for the Cardinals.
Muirhead led York with five kills and four blocks, while Lewis added five kills and six digs.
Pamela Yap had 11 digs to lead the Cardinals. The Panthers were led by
Ashley Greene who picked up a match-high 10 kills.
York (4-15) will visit Purchase College Monday at 7:00 pm.
