York Tops John Jay in Final Minute of Overtime

MASPETH, NY— A goal by York's
Menard Millus in the final minute of the second overtime, gave the York College men's soccer team a thrilling 3-2 victory over John Jay College on Saturday afternoon.
In the 109
th minute, York's
Jaime Hay found Millus, who beat the John Jay keeper to break a 2-2 tie and give the Cardinals their third straight conference victory. It was York's second overtime victory this season. The Cardinals defeated Brooklyn College, 2-1, in overtime one week earlier.
York (3-10, 3-2 CUNYAC) took an early lead, when
Andre Adelson set up
McLaney Moise for a goal in the 14
th minute of play. The score remained 1-0 going into halftime. Shortly after halftime, in the 47
th minute, John Jay's Edward Gonzalez evened the score when he netted an unassisted goal.
The score would remain the same until the 88
th minute, when Millus scored the first of his two goals and appeared to have given York the victory. Oluwafemi Olasokan and
Rachidi Amadou assisted on the play.
Yet, it was Gonzalez who once again came through to get the equalizer for John Jay (1-10-2, 1-3 CUNYAC), tying the game with just 46 seconds left in regulation. It looked like the game would be heading for a draw until Millus gave York another thrilling victory.
The Cardinals will hope to continue their exciting play next Wednesday, when they host Lehman College at 4:00 p.m.
