York Explodes for Five Goals in Win over Brooklyn

BROOKLYN, NY— The York College men's soccer team had an offensive explosion Saturday afternoon, scoring five goals en route to defeating Brooklyn College 5-3 in a key CUNY Athletic Conference match. With the win, York now stands at 3-5, 2-1 in the CUNYAC.
York opened the scoring in the 11th minute, when Mclaney Moise found Richard Amponsah on a cross, who then beat the keeper for a 1-0 advantage. Then in the 23rd minute, Rachidi Amadolu, York's leading scorer, would make it 2-0 when he scored off a rebound. Eight minutes later, in the 31st minute, York's Khadim Kebe made it 3-0 when he took advantage of a penalty kick. The score would remain 3-0 going into halftime.
York opened the half with another goal, making it 4-0 when Hugo Cicanois forced a turnover and scored a goal unassisted from 40 yards out.
Brooklyn (2-4-1, 1-2 CUNYAC) would eventually cut York's lead in half though, getting two goals off the foot of Mack Diller to make it 4-2. However, another goal from Hugo Cicanois in the 81st minute iced the game for the Cardinals.
York out-shot Brooklyn 25-15, while the Bulldogs held a 5-3 edge in corner kicks. Cardinals keeper Samer Abdelfattah made four stops in net to earn the victory.
York will return to action on Wednesday when they visit Hunter College at 5:00 p.m. The game will played at Randall's Island.
