Women’s Tennis Earns 9-0 Triumph Over City Tech

, NY— The York College women's tennis team brought its conference record to over.500 for the season, defeating conference-foe City Tech, 9-0, Tuesday afternoon.  With the win, York improves to 4-5 overall and 4-3 in the CUNY Athletic Conference.

 

York dominated the match, particularly in doubles play, where the Lady Cardinals dropped just one game in the three matches.  The team of Allana Wilson and Nina Olladikankwu and the squad of Jesmin Bhuyan and Kameesha Sylvester each won 8-0 at second and third doubles respectively.

 

In singles play, the Lady Cardinals swept all but one of the six matches.  Amba Chanoine needed a third-set tiebreaker to dispense of City Tech's Olayinka Sarayi by a score of 3-6, 6-2 (10-0).  At first singles Nicole Jones cruised to a 6-2, 6-1 victory, while Irma Ruilova won 6-0, 6-1 at fifth singles.  Tenzin Kunchok did not drop a game in her sixth-singles match, winning 6-0, 6-0.

 

York will return to action on Wednesday when they host St. Joseph's (BK) at 4:00 p.m.
