Toure, Pierre-Louis Lead York to 3-2 Win Over CCNY

PURCHASE, NY— The York College men's soccer team opened up conference play Wednesday with a hard-fought 3-2 win over the City College of New York.  Junior Ousmane Toure scored two goals, including the game-winner and sophomore goalkeeper Pierreson Pierre-Louis stopped eight shots to lead the Cardinals.

 

It took just six seconds for York to get on the board.  On the opening kick, Hugo Cicanois found Mcliney Moise, who beat the goalie on the left side of the net for a 1-0 York lead. 

 

The score would remain the same until the 23rd minute when CCNY evened the score on an unassisted goal from Illir Cunmulaj.  Five minutes later, York took back the lead when Ousmane Toure scored an unassisted goal.  The score would remain 2-1 at halftime. 

 

Early in the second half, CCNY got the equalizer once again, scoring in the 49th minute but it was Toure once again for York who came up with the game-winner, scoring in the 55th minute to make the score 3-2. 

 

In goal, Pierreson-Pierre-Louis stopped eight shots to earn his first win of the season.  York out-shot the Beavers 20-15, while CCNY held a 5-2 edge in corner kicks. 

 

With the win, the Cardinals improve to 2-3, 1-0 in the CUNYAC.  The Cardinals will have a tough task ahead of them next game, as they host Medaille College on Saturday at 2:00 p.m.  The game will be held at the Aviator Sports Complex in Brooklyn, NY.
