, NY— The York College women's volleyball team lost a pair of matches on Columbus Day, losing 3-0 (25-14, 25-15, 25-12) to Hunter College and 3-0 (25-10, 25-22, 25-20) to Brooklyn College.

 

Hunter Recap

The Hawks (9-11, 7-0 CUNYAC) proved to be too much for the Lady Cardinals as they remained undefeated in conference play.  Mallory Gruber turned in a strong effort for the Hawks, recording a match-high 14 kills and a .462 hitting percentage.

 

Despite the loss, freshman Sharon Fordyce had a solid match for the Lady Cardinals, picking up four kills and a block.  Libero Pamela Yap added 14 digs, while setter Miryam Candela had six assists and 12 digs.

 

Brooklyn Recap

After dropping the first set without much of a fight, the Lady Cardinals battled in the final two sets, only to lose each set by a narrow margin.  Maria Suero-Santos recorded six kills and a .333 hitting percentage, while Yap added 11 digs. 

 

Brooklyn (10-6, 5-2 CUNYAC) was led by Maritz Morency who scored a match-high 10 kills, to go along with eight digs. 

 

York (4-14, 1-6 CUNYAC) will host the College of New Rochelle on Friday at 7:00 p.m.
