Restrepo, Vilsaint Lead York Past Hunter College
Box Score
JAMAICA, NY – In a rematch of last season's CUNY Athletic Conference Championship game, the York College men's soccer team defeated Hunter College, 2-0, on Saturday afternoon. Sergio Restrepo netted the game-winning goal and Elysee Vilsaint added a goal and an assist to lead York.
Last season, the Cardinals fell to Hunter in the championship game, losing in penalty kicks. The Cardinals earned a little bit of revenge for last season's heartbreaking defeat with the win on Saturday.
The game remained scoreless until just over a minute before halftime, when Vilsaint set up Restrepo for the game's first goal. Shortly into the second half, in the 53rd minute, Vilsaint headed in York's second goal off a well-placed pass from Jaime Hay.
York goalie Samer Abdel-Fattah stopped four shots to earn his second consecutive shutout.
With the win, the Cardinals improve to 3-5, 3-0 in the CUNYAC, while Hunter falls to 1-6-1, 1-2 in the CUNYAC. York will host Lehman College on Wednesday at 4:00 p.m.
