JERSEY CITY
, NJ – The York College men's soccer suffered a tough defeat Thursday afternoon, losing to New Jersey City University, 5-1.  The loss drops the Cardinals record to 0-2 on the season.

The match started promising for York, as they got on the board quickly, when Ousmane Toure stole the ball from a defender and rifled a shot in the net just 1:34 into the contest.

However, it was all NJCU from that point on.  The Gothic Knights evened the score in the 20th minute when Walter Avans headed the ball in.  Just 40 seconds later, NJCU added another goal to make the score of 2-1.

Avans would go on to score the final three goals of the game, one more in the first half and two in the second to put the game away.

York will visit Mt. St. Mary's on Saturday at noon.
