Lady Cardinals Fall in Tough Match to Staten Island

JAMAICA, NY— Despite strong performances from a trio of seniors, the York College women's volleyball team lost a closely contested match to the College of Staten Island 3-1 (25-21, 18-25, 25-21, 25-19) on Tuesday evening.
Irma Ruilova recorded five kills and 15 digs, Charlina Gallegos digged 14 balls and had four aces and Shanine Bogan had seven kills and two blocks but it would not be enough for the Lady Cardinals.
The Dolphins (11-13, 5-3 CUNYAC) served up 18 aces and 34 kills to York's ten aces and 21 kills. That proved to be the difference in the match. For CSI, Danielle Ponsiglione recorded a match-high 13 kills, while Alba Basha led all players with 17 assists.
York (5-16, 2-6 CUNYAC) will travel to the College of New Rochelle on Thursday at 7:00 p.m.
