Cicanois and Vilsaint Lead York to 5-0 Victory over Staten Island

JAMAICA, NY – Hugo Cicanois netted two goals and Elysee Vilsaint scored two goals and assisted on another to lead the York College men's soccer team to a 5-0 victory over the College of Staten Island Saturday afternoon.
The game was quiet for most of the first half until Cicanois got York on the board at the 39:07 mark. On the play, Cicanois was tripped up, managed to maintain possession as he got up and then beat CSI goalie Andrew Brown to give York a 1-0 lead before halftime.
Then in the second half, in the 59th minute, Vilsaint set up Sergio Restrepo who found the back of the net for York's second goal of the game.
In the 77th minute Vilsaint scored his first goal to make it 3-0 and put the game out of reach. Just four minutes later, Vilsaint took a corner kick that was deflected off on the CSI defenders and into the net for an own goal. Vilsaint was credited with his second goal of the contest. Cicanois would then add an unassisted goal in the final minute of play to make the final score 5-0.
York goalie Samer Abdel-Fattah stopped two shots to earn his fifth shutout of the season.
The win capped off an impressive weekend for York, who outscored their opponents 12-1 in the last two days. The Cardinals defeated Purchase College 7-1 on Friday.
With the win, York evens up its record at 7-7 overall and is now 6-2 in the CUNY Athletic Conference. Staten Island falls to 3-14, 2-6 in the CUNYAC.
York will travel to John Jay on Wednesday at 8:00 p.m.
