Seniors Lead York to Sweep of St. Joseph’s (BK)

BROOKLYN, NY— A trio of seniors put together big performances Wednesday evening to lead the York College women's volleyball team to a 3-0 (27-25, 25-17, 28-26) win over St. Joseph's College (BK). Irma Ruilova recorded a match-high 13 kills, five aces and a team-high 15 digs, while Shanine Bogan finished with ten kills and two blocks. Setter Charlina Gallegos also tallied a match-high 24 assists to go along with seven kills and ten digs.
Despite the sweep, the game was close throughout as York had to gut out wins in the first and third sets. The Lady Cardinals fought off set points both times before eventually taking the set. The second set proved to be much easier as they the Lady Cardinals jumped out to an 18-10 lead and never looked back.
York improves to 5-11, while St. Joseph's falls to 3-5. The Lady Cardinals will travel to New Jersey City University on Friday at 7:00 p.m.
