York Soccer Routs Yeshiva, 14-3

YONKERS, NY— The York College men’s soccer team picked up their first win of the season Thursday evening in dominating fashion, winning by a score of 14-3 over Yeshiva University.    Elysee Vilsaint (Port-au-Prince, Haiti/South Shore), playing in just his second game of his collegiate career, netted five goals and assisted on another to lead the Cardinal onslaught.   Freshman Hugo Cicanois (Chile/ School 436) also netted three goals and had one assist, while Jameel Fraser (Bronx, NY/ Mt. St. Michael) added two goals. 

 

Vilsaint, a freshman, notched his first career goal to open the scoring at the 8:39 mark.  A little over four minutes later, Fraser made it 2-0 on a breakaway.   York added a goal from Dukens Riche (Bronx, NY/ Presbyterian) and another from both Fraser and Vilsaint to give York a commanding 6-0 lead going into halftime. 

 

York added goals from Rasheed Brown (Jamaica, W.I/ Kingston College) and Cicanois early in the second half to make it 8-0 before Yeshiva got on the board at the 55:39 mark.   In the 68th minute, with York leading 11-2, Fraser was the beneficiary of an own goal by Yeshiva to earn his second goal of the game. 

 

14 minutes later, with York holding a 12-3 advantage, Cicanois picked up his third goal of the game on a shot from the outside in the 82nd minute.   Just two minutes later Vilsaint scored his fifth goal of the contest to round out the barrage of scoring for York.  

 

York’s Pierreson Pierre-Louis (Port-au-Prince, Haiti/ Van Buren) made three saves in goal in his first career game in net.  The Cardinals out shot the Maccabees 55-17 and held a 7-3 edge in corner kicks.

 

York, 1-1, will be idle until September 11 when they host the Lehman College Club team in an exhibition.
