JAMAICA, NY-- Elysee Vilsaint (Port-au-Prince, Haiti / South Shore) scored a hat trick and assisted on the game winning goal to lead the York College men’s soccer team to a 4-3 win over SUNY Farmingdale Tuesday afternoon. With the win, the Cardinals improved to 6-4 overall.
SUNY Farmingdale jumped out to the early 1-0 lead when Thomas Mueller beat Cardinals goalie Pierreson Pierre-Louis (Port au-Prince, Haiti / Van Buren) on the right side of the goal.
The Cardinals tied the score at 1-1 with 3:28 in the first half on an unassisted goal by Elysee Vilsaint (Port-au-Prince, Haiti / South Shore).
SUNY Farmingdale would move ahead, 2-1, in the 34th minute on a goal scored by Ryan Paul. However, the lead by SUNY Farmingdale would not stand because Vilsaint would strike again when Dukens Riche (Brooklyn, NY / Southside) assisted on the goal in the second half in the 48th minute to tie the score at 2-2.
This chess match of a game would continue because SUNY Farmingdale would score again to break the tie and reclaim the lead 3-2 on Frank Volante’s corner kick at the 55:34 mark. However, just like the first half, Vilsaint would tie the score at 3-3, in the 67th minute on his third goal of the match.
The deciding goal of the match came when midfielder Vilsaint led forward Michel Nicolas(Port-au-Prince, Haiti / Newtown) to break the 3-3 tie with a goal in the 72nd minute.
On the season, Vilsaint leads the City University of New York Athletic Conference (CUNYAC) in goals with 12.
The Cardinals will host #25 Drew University tomorrow at 3:30pm.
