Streak Dated Back to 2006

Box Score

BROOKLYN, NY— The York College men’s soccer team saw their 13 match unbeaten streak against City University of New York Athletic Conference (CUNYAC) opponents come to an end Wednesday as the Cardinals fell to Brooklyn College 2-0.  The streak dated back to October 28, 2006 when York lost to John Jay in the CUNYAC semi-finals.

A year ago, York went 10-0-1, including playoff games, and then won their first two conference matches this season before finally falling to the Bridges yesterday.

Brooklyn struck first in the 24th minute when Menesky Maglorie stole an errant York pass and then scored in the lower right-hand corner of the goal to take the 1-0 advantage.

In the second half, the Bridges put the game away in the 63rd minute on a goal by Vasyl Palinchak.

The Cardinals could not get the ball in net despite out-shooting Brooklyn 16-14.

York (4-3, 2-1 CUNYAC) will look to rebound on Thursday when they visit Centenary College at 4:00 p.m.
