York Softball Falls to Hunter College

NEW YORK, NY— The York College softball team struggled against Hunter College in a CUNYAC showdown on Friday afternoon. The Lady Cardinals fell 14-0 in a five-inning game.
The Lady Cardinals managed only one hit, a leadoff single by Patricia Georgi, to start the game. Georgi was left stranded at second base and York never threatened the rest of the way.
The Hawks put the game away early, scoring one in the first, six in the second and seven in the third. Hunter freshman Danielle Maresca led the Hawks, going 2-2 with three runs scored and two RBI’s. Seven other Hawks each got one hit apiece to round out the offense.
Junior Nicole Grilli earned the win for Hunter, tossing five innings of one-hit ball. York’s Swelly Cabello took the loss on the mound.
York will return to action on Saturday when they visit Brooklyn College on Saturday.
