York Falls to Baruch on “Think Pink Day”

Box Score

NEW YORK , NY— The York College softball team was downed by Baruch College, 17-0, in a City University of New York Athletic Conference (CUNYAC) match-up on Tuesday evening.   However, the game was overshadowed by “Think Pink Day,” which is a national initiative to raise breast cancer awareness.  Both teams wore pink uniforms in an effort to raise awareness and money for breast cancer research.

The Lady Cardinals struggled against a strong Baruch team in Tuesday’s contest.  The Bearcats scored in every inning, plating eight in the fist, two in the second, five in the third, and two in the fourth.   Three Baruch pitchers held York hitless until the top of the fourth, when Ashley Willock (Valencia, Trinidad/ Campus Magnet) singled with one out.

With the loss, York falls to 2-5, 2-4 in the CUNYAC, while Baruch improves to 15-13, 8-4 in the CUNYAC.  The Lady Cardinals will look to get back on track on Wednesday when they host Elmira College in a non-conference match-up.
