STATEN ISLAND, NY— The York College men's tennis team fell in its CUNY Athletic Conference opener against The College Of Staten Island, losing 8-1 on Friday night. The loss ended York’s four year winning streak against CSI, and gave the Cardinals an 0-1 record thus far on the season.
The only win of the day came at No. 2 singles where Mark Feinsod refused to see his team get swept as he beat CSI’s Joe Taranto 7-6 (7-5), 4-6, (10-4).
“It was a very exciting match with much drama,” Co-Captain Mark Feinsod stated “We have some talent. We just need to be on the court practicing as much as possible. In tennis the only way to improve is to play everyday. As a team we feel that we will make great strides as long as our new guys are practicing hard”.
York will be back in action Monday afternoon at 3:30 in their home opener against John Jay.
