Nkrumah Leads York at Richard Stockton Invitational; Named CUNYAC Track Co-Athlete of the Week

Nkrumah Gets a Trio of First Place Finishes and Wins CUNYAC Honor in the Process

POMONA, NJ Alexandra Nkrumah took first place in three events to lead the York College Outdoor Track and Field team at the Richard Stockton Invitational on Saturday.  Nkrumah crossed the line first in the 200-meter dash (26.78), 400-meter hurdles (1:06.13), and the 400-meter dash (59.50).   For her efforts she was named CUNY Athletic Conference Co-Track Athlete of the Week along with CCNY’s Jodyann Raymond.  

 

Also making a strong showing for York was Alana Paul who came in second the in the 100-meter dash (13.88).  Sophomore Taneisha Renaud finished fifth in the 800-meters (2:39.14) and sixth in the 1500-meters (5:30.73), while in the 400-meters, Avion Pierre (1:02.13) and Wendella Rankin (1:03.30) finished fourth and fifth respectively. 

 

In the relay events, the Cardinals also took first place in the 4x400 relay in a time of 4:16.61. 

 

In field events, Shanine Bogan placed second in the shot put with a toss of 11.12 meters.   Bogan also finished fifth in the javelin throw with a distance of 23.18 meters.   

 

York College will compete on Friday, March 28 at the Monmouth Season Opener in Monmouth, NJ.
