PLEASANTVILLE, NY— The York College men’s and women’s swim teams took first place in three events in their season-opening tri-match against Pace University and Mount Saint Mary College Thursday.
On the men’s side, the 200-yard medley relay team of Patrick Tang (Queens, NY/ Forest Hills), James Kearny (Hempstead, NY/ Hempstead), Brian Miller (Hempstead, NY/ Uniondale), and Dwayne Beach (Brooklyn, NY) blew away the competition, finishing first by a margin of nearly six seconds.
Kearny then followed that performance up with gold in the men’s 50-yard freestyle and a second-place finish in the 100-breaststroke.
In the team results, York lost 48-43 to Mount Saint Mary and 57-33 to Pace University.
On the women’s side, Averie Mohammed (Queens, NY/ Jamaica) placed first in the 50-yard freestyle, giving the Cardinals a sweep in the event. The Lady Cardinals lost 77-44 to Mount Saint Mary and 64-20 to Pace.
York will be idle until November 19, when they compete in their home opener against Hunter College at 6:00 p.m.
