Women’s Volleyball Closes Regular Season with 3-0 Win over Yeshiva
NEW YORK, NY— The York College women’s volleyball team closed out their regular season with a 3-0 (25-14, 25-14, 25-22) victory over Yeshiva University on Sunday afternoon. With the win, the Lady Cardinals improve to 8-21 and have doubled their victories from a year ago.
Irma Ruilova (Cuenca, Ecuador/ Newcomers) had a solid all-around game for York recording six kills, 23 digs and three aces. Christina Lopez (S. Ozone Park, NY/ John Adams) also put together a nice match, finishing with five kills, 13 digs and three aces, while freshman Olga Romero (Bronx, NY/ John F. Kennedy) had her best game of her career, recording 18 digs to go along with two kills. Senior Ashley Willock (Valencia, Trinidad/ Law and Government) chipped in with 13 assists.
York will now visit Hunter College on Tuesday at 6 p.m. in the Quarterfinals of the CUNY Athletic Conference Tournament.
