Lady Cardinals Drop Pair of Matches to Old Westbury

OLD WESTBURY, NY – The York College women’s volleyball team dropped a pair of matches to SUNY Old Westbury Saturday afternoon.  The Lady Cardinals lost the first match 3-0 (25-13, 25-10, 25-14) and fell 3-0 (25-18, 25-12, 25-19) in the second contest.

 

Game One Recap

Old Westbury’s Tynisha George led all players with 12 kills and had a .417 hitting percentage for the Panthers.  Serena McGrath had a match-high 12 digs and Debra DePalma recorded 5 of the team’s 14 service aces.

 

For York, Christina Lopez (S. Ozone Park/ John Adams) and Charlina Gallegos (Mexico City, MX/ Hillcrest) had eight digs each to lead York, while Rochelle Bourne (Christ Church, Barbados/ Lester Vaughn) had a team-high three kills.

 

Game Two Recap
George had another great match for the Panthers, this time recording 11 kills to go with 11 digs.  DePalma added four more aces for Old Westbury.

 

Freshman Jaylene Medina (Corona, NY/ Flushing) had six kills and Irma Ruilova (Cuenca, Ecuador/ Newcomers) had a season-high 23 digs to lead York in match two.   Lopez added 13 digs and Gallegos finished with 12 digs and 11 assists.

 

York falls to 7-21 while the Panthers improve to 10-25.
