JAMAICA, NY— Irma Ruilova (Cuenca, Ecuador/ Newcomers) had six kills, four aces, and 12 digs and Shanine Bogan (Brooklyn, NY/ Clara Barton) recorded a match-high eight kills and three blocks to lead the York College women’s volleyball team to a 3-0 (25-22, 25-16, 25-9) win over Sarah Lawrence College Saturday.
York was never threatened in the match as several players established season-highs in a number of categories. Charlina Gallegos (Mexico City, MX/ Hillcrest) recorded 17 assists, which was her second highest total of the season and the most for a three-set match. Ashley Willock (Valencia, Trinidad/ Law and Gov.) had 12 digs, which was a season and match-high. Ruilova’s 12 digs and four aces also matched her season-high.
York (6-18, 2-6 CUNYAC) will host Manhattanville on Monday at 7 p.m. It will also be senior day for the Lady Cardinals. The senior members of the team will be honored before the game.
