York Falls to Staten Island on “Pink Day”

JAMAICA, NY— The York College women’s volleyball team fell to the College of Staten Island 3-0 (25-17, 25-21, 25-16) Tuesday evening. Before and during the game, the Lady Cardinals celebrated “Pink Day” by wearing pink uniforms and providing information about breast cancer to fans.
CSI’s Joanna Tepedino recorded a match-high 15 kills on 33 attempts to lead the Dolphins. Vanessa Perez digged eight balls and had four aces.
For York, Shanine Bogan (Brooklyn, NY/ Clara Barton) had a team-high four kills to go along with four digs. Charlina Gallegos (Mexico City, MX/ Hillcrest) led the Lady Cardinals with nine digs, while Christina Lopez (Ozone Park, NY/ John Adams) and Irma Ruilova (Cuenca, Ecuador/ Newcomer) chipped in five digs apiece.
CSI improves to 12-8, 5-3 in the CUNYAC, while York falls to 5-18, 2-6 CUNYAC.
The Lady Cardinals will host Sarah Lawrence College on Saturday at 1:00 pm.
