Box Score

STATEN ISLAND, NY --- In a rematch of last year’s City University of New York Athletic Conference (CUNYAC) Championship, the York College men’s soccer team earned a 2-0 victory over Staten Island to close out the regular season on Saturday.  With the win, York (9-7, 6-2 CUNYAC) remains in contention for the CUNYAC regular season title.

The Cardinals, with 18 points in the CUNYAC standings, hold a two point lead over Hunter College and a three point lead over Baruch for first place.  A loss or a tie by both teams in their final matches on Wednesday would give the Cardinals their second straight regular season title.

Elysee Vilsaint (Port-au-Prince, Haiti/ South Shore) continued his outstanding season, scoring both goals for York to increase his conference-leading total to 18.

The first of his goals came unassisted in the 25th minute and the second was off an assist from Michel Nicolas (Port-au-Prince, Haiti/ Newtown) in the 40th minute.

York keeper, Pierreson Pierre-Louis (Port-au-Prince, Haiti/ Van Buren) stopped four shots to earn the shutout.

York will now be idle until October 29 for the CUNYAC Tournament Quarterfinals.  Their opponent is still to be determined.
